Boy oh boy, what a real gem we have for you with today's Artist Discovery! Without further ado, it's our pleasure to present you Indie Rock quartet Tony Goff & The Broken Colours...
The Buckinghamshire based rockers blend a vibrant mix of styles together to craft their own unique and invigoratingly uplifting sound - fusing together a solid Indie Rock sound with elements of Funk and Soul.
Frontman Tony Goff leads the group with an enticing sense of confidence, character and commitment into an exciting new chapter in the band's journey so far…
In just one sentence, describe your sound...
"The band over the years have experimented with various sounds but at the moment I would say: Heart Hitting, Indie/Rock hits wrapped in Funk and Soul."
It's fair to say that these boys are no strangers to the world of music, having been an active part of the UK's independent music scene since the early 2000's.
Between them, these talented musicians have gained their fair share of touring experience - performing all over the UK and in parts of Europe - as well as each having a rich, varied background in writing and recording.
The collective known as Tony Goff & The Broken Colours launched their first DIY release back in 2015 and have been on quite the journey since, defining their sound all along the way.
Flash forward to present day and Tony is now joined by a very talented new line up - Connor Myers (lead guitar), Tom Paley (bass) and Ashley P Saunders (drums) - and some some dangerously good songs!
Their latest single 'Rearrange' was released in June 2019, with the promotional video following recently on 4th December 2020 and serves as an impressive declaration of just what these guys are capable of.
Who are your musical influences?
"Our musical influences as a band are actually quite similar - Rock, Funk, Indie sorta stuff. Some bands we all agree on are RHCP, Stereophonincs, Vulpeck, Tom Misch, Cold war Kids and Arctic Monkeys."
Although written pre-pandemic, the new single certainly installs a sense of much needed hope and joy as we journey together into 2021 and the light at the end of this very dark tunnel we have faced over the past year.
It's now more important than ever to allow yourself every once in a while to unwind - to escape to a place of carefree bliss - and Tony Goff & The Broken Colours are here to help you with exactly that...
You know when a piece of music just hits right where you need it to? Yeah, that!
One side effect I've found from listening to this song - and I've listened to it a lot - is that no matter how much of a stressful or rough day I'm having, I always seem to find myself dancing along!
The music video also compliments this well, with an equally uplifting and well captured edit - produced by the bands very own Ashley P Saunders. There are clearly many strings to the bow of each member in this band, and we dig it!
The track itself has clearly been lovingly recorded, with a real sense of live character and an uplifting pulse throughout. A collaborative process with production by Free Fall Studios, mixed by Paul Frost. Released through Bentley Records, 'Rearrange' marks a change in direction for the band with a new line up, a rearranged sound and a very promising future ahead...
Whilst I really enjoyed many of the Indie Rock outfits older songs, I can't help but feel that this time round Tony and the guys have really hit the nail on the head. I'm not a gambling man, but if I were I'd be willing to bet you that you've needed this song in your life!
Please shout out 3 fellow up and coming artists/bands...
"Shout out to Harry Quinn, my boys Fairway and AMIR."
And so concludes today's Artist Discovery featuring Tony Goff & The Broken Colours.
I've really enjoyed learning more about the group and really do believe they're currently on the road to success. I absolutely cannot wait to see what the future holds for this talented Indie Rock bunch!
What's next for you?
"Next up for us is recording the New EP which will be out later this year, whilst we await info on gigs for future tours and continue to grow the brand anyway possible."
