What's good! I'm Rambo. I'm a musician, I drink too much coffee and occasionally write stuff. Every Sunday, I ramble on a little about what's been on my mind, here on Live A Little Louder Music...
By now we’ve probably all seen the current 'Bill Clinton Swag' trend doing the rounds on the internet.
Social media users post an edited picture of Bill Clinton holding their top four favourite albums. This is all done curtesy of www.billclintonswag.com.
Here are my top four albums and the reasons why I chose them...
Songs In The Key Of Life - Stevie Wonder
I think I could sit here forever and not run out of words for how good this album is, and if you’re ever spoken to me in person you’ll know this is true (sorry to my friends …). With a run time of about 1hr 45mins it isn’t a quick listen but DAMN is it worth it.
Most people know Isn’t She Lovely and As already so give the whole album a spin one day, it’ll be worth it! To me this is the best album ever written, it’s dynamic, masterfully written and is packed with incredible performances from every musician.
Milo Goes To College - Descendents
On the complete opposite end of the spectrum we have Milo Goes To College, being only 23 mins long. Many people think this was the first real pop punk album coming out in 1982, and listening to Hope you can hear it a mile away, Blink-182 covered this and their influence on them is clear.
Short, full of energy and a real classic means it gets the nod from me in my top albums.
The Difference Between Hell And Home - Counterparts
Canadian melodic hardcore/metalcore band Counterparts smashed it with this album, if anyone wanted to get into heavier music, this is the first album I recommend, intense and agressive but still super melodic.
Lyrically it touches on some darker themes and really stirs some deep emotions and I’ll never get bored of it. Outlier is a personal favourite, the sung melody in the outro after a heavy breakdown really balances well, give it a listen for a shot of energy.
Dookie - Green Day
A really personal one here, this was actually the first CD I ever bought as a little kid haha! I think most people will have heard of this album and probably listened to it but it’s always worth talking about.
Everyone’s heard Basket Case at some point, and the whole album keeps up that high standard, personal recommendation off the album is Coming Clean, I think it’s the catchiest song on the whole record.
Mike Dirnt’s bass playing on this album was a huge influence on me when I first picked up the instrument and his playing really drives the album fulling the songs perfectly.
So they’re my top picks, what are yours? You’re all FORMALLY nominated so no excuses!
