It's an extremely exciting time indeed for London based singer songwriter Matt Ryan, with the recent release of his first solo single 'You Can Do Anything'!
The track provides a solidly strong debut, setting the bar impressively high with upbeat, vibrantly tight instrumentation and a melodiously enjoyable lead vocal performing catchy hooks.
We caught up with the man himself to find out more...
We asked Matt how the song was originally written - he explained "the recording process for this new song was very easy. I went to my friend, producer Nick Tudor Pole, and we started work on this tune, starting with this massive pad sound.
He had this old banged up piano, which I then came up with the main hook on. We further built it up but then lost the project! It was such a shame. But we always knew it had potential..."
Luckily for us all, the pair later revisited the song, resulting in Matt's uniquely and enjoyably distinguishable debut single. Written, produced and mixed to a very high standard, the feel good track offers an upbeat and memorable listen from start to finish...
When asked about the inspiration behind the song, the London based musician said "the inspiration behind the song was leaving my 9 to 5 job. So I quit my job in sales to go and pursue music. In the chorus it references 'smiling as I wave goodbye' - that's kind of waving goodbye to the job.
It starts of saying 'should I leave?' - like I thought I had it all figured out but now I've really found out what it's all about, I don't like what I'm doing. And then the second verse is almost a month or two later once I'd made the decision - so it's quite an uplifting thing."
What's next for Matt Ryan you ask? Funnily enough, we asked him that very question...
"I've got a whole load of tunes written and am continuing to write. I've got four new singles ready to come out over the space of 2020..."
We can't wait to see what comes next for this talented musician!
